Experience: Knowledgeable in EPAct 45L, Paul has 12 years’ experience as an Architect working in the Architectural field as well as 25 years’ experience as a home builder. Paul offers EDSS a wealth of knowledge for residential and building programs.

Janell Holmes
Director of Project Management, Energy Design Service Systems (EDSS)
Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Arts and Sciences in Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth

Experience: Janell brings 11 years’ experience in project management alone, specializing in reviewing blueprints, and specifications to ensure that green building requirements are met. Including negotiating pricing and providing the client with the best options available, Janell manages the critical project details to get the job done.

Marcella Brys
Director of Lighting Design, Energy Design Service Systems (EDSS)
Education and Training:

  • Graphic Design, Washtenaw Community College

Experience: Specializing in bringing new light to outdated lighting designs, Marcella has the knowledge and expertise to find the right lighting solution for any building type inside and out. Directing a team of 9 lighting designers, Marcella assists companies in looking into LED and energy efficient lighting for all of their construction projects.

  • Experienced in taking projects through from initial design work to final result; including specifying and ordering fixtures
  • Experience in both interior and exterior lighting design applications for both residential and commercial work
  • Worked closely with top car dealerships like Mercedes Benz, GMC/Buick, Toyota, Ford, Cadillac, Nissan, Chrysler, Volvo; designing to meet the manufacturer’s specifications and codes

Experience: With a background in Architecture and Design, Aimee has extensive experience working on the 179D EPAct tax deduction for over two years. As an additional skill, Aimee provides clients with lighting designs that not only improve energy efficiency but their project’s overall appearance.

Simon Ren, P.E., C.E.M.

Experience: Simon Ren has a wealth of experience with energy projects both large and small, with expertise in Energy Audits, HVAC Controls, Project Development, Engineering, Project Management, Sales, and Training.

  • Audited architectural/ mechanical/electrical systems at 300 commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings totaling 50,000,000 square feet; identified measures to reduce energy consumption by 30%
  • Reduced initial cost, operating costs, and/or future capital expenditures of a major construction program by $15M with enhanced performance, by reviewing design documents for a series of construction projects and justifying early modifications to the mechanical/electrical designs.

Experience: Allison brings to the table experience and a vast knowledge of working with clients of all types from nonprofits to large businesses. Specializing in renewable energy and energy efficiency grants, Allison has helped clients maximize their incentives on their projects to ‘go green’ with avenues most companies don’t realize exist.

Experience: Gary Ely is a qualified senior Sales/Marketing Manager with strong business relationships within the Electrical/ Industrial Distributor. Gary brings to the table 35 years’ experience in lighting to help guide EDSS and its LED endeavor in the right direction for both energy efficiency and functionality.

AnneMarie Regnier
Director of EPAct Engineers/CAD Design, Energy Design Service Systems (EDSS)
Education and Training:

  • Computer Aided Design in Manufacturing, Eastern Michigan University

Experience: Anne Marie offers 10 years’ experience in Computer Aided Design and project management. Serving as a team director in EDSS’s main office in Brighton, MI. AnneMarie works closely with clients and EDSS staff to coordinate workflow of the 179D, 45L, and design projects.

Kevin Halpin
National Director of Business Development, Energy Design Service Systems (EDSS)

Experience: Joining EDSS in 2009, Kevin has over 30 years experience in design and construction of large scale facilities such as regional malls, hotels, distribution facilities, high-end department stores and office complexes, as well as numerous smaller scale projects. He is a Registered Architect as well as Lighting Consultant and a Certified Construction Manager.

  • Clients have included industry leaders including Bloomingdales, Nordstroms, Simons Properties, Wynn Hotels, Fendi, Judith Ripka, Foxwoods MGM Resorts and Casinos and Caesar’s Palace.
  • Worked with such notable Architectural firms as FRCH Worldwide, Barteluce & Associates and James Harb & Associates
  • Served as Vice President for Design and Development for the Fortunoff Corporation
  • Served as Executive Vice President- Managing Director of Dejah Enterprises, in both the U.S. and Canadian markets.
