When EDSS performs an energy audit, we review your entire facility’s energy usage, both inside and out, to ensure that you’re not paying any more than you need to – without sacrificing lighting quality, comfort, aesthetics or safety.

This is not some cursory ‘look-at-your-utility-bills and-make-an estimate’ review. It’s a genuinely comprehensive analysis of your facility that generates specific, practical proposals and options for your implementation. We begin with what is typically 2 to 3 days of technical and process analysis, reviewing engineering and structural details, vendor relationships, billing processes and more. Every square foot of your facility is examined in detail, including exteriors as well as interiors to ensure that no opportunity for savings is overlooked. With that information, we identify specific areas of concern and offer particular recommendations for enhancement and remediation. Some of those include:

  • Utility Incentives – Taking advantage of many local utilities’ programs to reward energy efficiency with incentives, rebates and credits.
  • Tax Credits – Leveraging certain states’ programs to earn rebates of up to 50% of the cost of new fixtures.
  • EPAct/179D Federal Tax Deductions – Upgrading and retrofitting facilities to take advantage of federal tax deductions as high as $1.80 per square foot.
  • Cost Segregation – Reclassifying new or recently remodeled buildings to generate tax savings of up to $230,000 for every $1 million of property value.
  • Utility Rate Reductions– Tapping into deregulated energy supplies and working with retail energy providers utilities to secure lower long-term energy rates.
  • Lamp Maintenance – Putting in place new, energy efficient materials that reduce maintenance and labor costs while providing ongoing energy use savings.
